Description
A refined Cartier wristwatch from the Art Déco period, characterised by its balanced geometry and understated elegance.
The square case is crafted in platinum with a yellow gold case back, creating a subtle contrast between precious materials typical of early Cartier watchmaking. The bezel is set with a continuous line of old-cut diamonds, enhancing the architectural purity of the design without overpowering it.
The dial, signed Cartier, features Roman numerals and blued steel hands, with a chemin de fer minute track framing the inner square. The overall composition reflects the maison’s early approach to wristwatches, where clarity, proportion and refinement were central.
The crown is set with a cabochon-style stone, consistent with Cartier’s aesthetic codes of the period.
The case back is numbered (3116) and shows visible signs of age, consistent with a piece from the 1920s. The watch is fitted with a fabric/leather strap and a metal buckle, both showing wear and likely later replacements.
The diamonds display natural variation and patina, in line with their age, contributing to the authentic character of the piece.
